Retirement Communities

It has been over 20 years since the principals of Rockport first identified the seniors housing market as one to be strategically pursued by the company.  In contrast to the market demands which directed Rockport’s more  traditional first time home buyer offerings, the seniors housing market represented a growing demographic that responded to a special array of economic and social imperatives that called on special skills not then widely demonstrated in the marketplace.  Rockport set out to become a leader in the seniors housing industry, providing an unparalleled combination of living environments and socially interactive facilities for Older Adults.  Once again, it has succeeded in delivering the very best of seniors’ retirement residence and assisted living environments.

Rockport builds with care, and affiliates itself with operators who are leaders in the industry to deliver the very best services, and highest possible standard of living. Rockport prides itself on delivering its product on time, and on budget, all the while paying close attention to the quality of its construction.

Rockport’s first effort was The Parkway Retirement Residence (2000) in Pickering, an 87 suite assisted living residence.  Next was the Trilogy Long Term Care Centre (2001), a provincially licensed 6 storey, 197 suite nursing home, and the adjacent 6 storey 155 suite McCowan Arms Retirement Residence (2004) for independent living, in east Toronto.

In 2006, Rockport, in association with its partner, Spectrum Seniors Housing, the development affiliate of Chartwell Seniors Housing REIT, completed Scarlett Heights, a 206 all suite retirement residence in Central Etobicoke.  In 2007, Pickering City Centre, a 117 all suite residence opened next to City Hall, the city’s main Recreation Centre, and the Pickering Town Centre, a full service Regional Shopping centre, in the City of Pickering.  These two residences are on the cutting edge of providing a “resort style” or “condo” like experience for active, independent seniors who want to enjoy outstanding personal space in the context of a residence which provides an array of social activities and excellent food and personal services.

In the spring of 2009, Valley Vista Retirement Residence opened its doors.  This residence is a 139 suite building, located in the fast growing community in the Major Mackenzie and Dufferin, in the City of Vaughan.

Coming soon are Rockport’s two newest retirement residences. The construction of Main Street Residence in Unionville, Markham is anticipated to commence in the fall of 2010 and Clarkson Retirement Residence in Mississauga is anticipated to start in the spring of 2011.
