Founded over 50 years ago, The Rockport Group has proudly created a long list of successful residential communities, earning a reputation as a master builder, dedicated to satisfying its customers’ needs with creativity and sensitivity.
Whether it be an intimate enclave of townhomes, a golf course estate community, or a retirement residence, The Rockport Group brings to each venture an unsurpassed level of commitment, professionalism, quality and devotion to customer service.
Rockport broke new ground in the late 1960's with the introduction of Ontario's first townhome condominiums. Over the next decades, The Rockport Group continued its leadership, delivering over 12,000 homes to satisfied customers in communities such as The Brockstone Village East and Walnut Lane in Pickering, and Harmony, adjacent to the Rouge River in Scarborough.
Recently the company has become more active in the retirement housing sector as well. In 2005, Rockport completed its 250-unit award winning On Bogart Pond community, in Newmarket, along with a 155-bed retirement home and a 197-bed Long Term Care Centre, both in Toronto.
In 2006 Rockport completed Scarlett Heights, a 206-suite independent living retirement residence on Eglinton. at Royal York Road, partnered with Spectrum Seniors Housing Developments and managed by Chartwell Seniors Housing REIT. In 2007 Rockport built the 117-suite City Centre Residence in Pickering, a retirement home also developed in partnership with Chartwell. And more Rockport retirement residences will be developed in the decade to come.
While Rockport has built homes of all sizes and for all markets, it is always seeking new locations and new opportunities to develop communities and homes which offer something very special or out of the ordinary for its customers. |

The Principals
Burton Winberg - Chairman
Burton Winberg, the Founder of The Rockport Group, has over 60 years experience as a private entrepreneur engaged in a host of real estate and financial enterprises. Bert was recently inducted to the GTHBA-UDI Homebuilders Hall of Fame for his pioneering condominium achievements. He is, or has been, a director of several publicly traded real estate, trust, insurance and financial services concerns.

Jack Winberg - CEO
Jack Winberg, the Group’s C.E.O., was educated in Business Administration and Law. He joined The Rockport Group on a full time basis in 1988 following a most active career as a specialist in land use and development law with WeirFoulds LLP, Toronto.
Jack is a founding director, and is currently the Chairman, of ClubLink Corporation, a public company which owns and manages golf courses and resorts in Southern Ontario and Quebec and he is a director of Revenue Properties Company Limited, a public real estate company with shopping centre and other income property interests across Canada and in the USA. Jack is also a director of Spectrum Seniors Housing Developments, the development company associated with Chartwell Seniors Housing REIT and InScotia Developments, the development entity associated with InStorage REIT.
Jack is a member of the University of Toronto’s Real Estate Advisory Board, and a member of the board of the Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation. He is also a past President of the Urban Development Institute of Canada and a past Chairman of the Urban Development Institute (Ontario). |

David Scott
David Scott manages all the construction activities of the Group and brings his substantial experience to bear on ensuring the quality of the Rockport Group’s real estate products are the best they can be. In David’s 25 years of construction and development experience, he has worked for development and building concerns both small and large and has extensive experience in all kinds of building, from frame to high rise. David’s previous position prior to joining the Rockport Group was as a senior member of the Concord Adex construction group where David had overall construction responsibility for several of the high rise condominiums constructed on the CN lands next to the Dome, in downtown Toronto.
